About Family & Children Services

Family & Children Services was founded in 1948 in order to provide counseling, caring, and support to everyone in our community, particularly those who might not otherwise be able to afford care. Today, we serve over 7,000 clients each year throughout Silicon Valley. We help children and adults cope effectively with depression, addiction, and chronic mental or physical illness. We aid families in overcoming domestic violence, teaching them how to become self-sufficient and build safe, healthy relationships. We counsel and assist our community’s veterans, GLBTQ youth and adults, and young people aged 16-21 as they emerge from the foster care system into independence.

To make it easier for those in need to access our services, we work with partners to bring our therapists and social workers into the community. Our partners include public and private schools, childcare centers, county and city agencies, community centers, health clinics, and workplaces. We also operate four sites in Palo Alto and San Jose.

Through our programs and services, we strive to fulfill our mission to build strong, safe, and self-sufficient individuals, families, and communities. We are dedicated to strengthening the emotional well-being of our community.

Please meet our leadership and Board of Directors, come to one of our offices, or contact us.
