Summary: Plans, organizes, and directs all ongoing and special project funding programs for institution by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.

Prepares Development & Marketing plan with short- and long-range goals to meet agency funding objectives, and enlists support from members of agency staff and the Board of Directors.

Appoints, leads, evaluates, and manages Development staff.
•
Establishes development priorities, systems, and procedures.
•
Prepares and administers department budget.
•
Develops and submits grant proposals for funds from private foundations, corporations, and government agencies.
•
Acts as agency contact to funders, including site visit requests.
•
Supervises development of public relations materials to enhance agency image and promote fundraising efforts.
•
Identifies potential contributors to special project funds and ongoing operations through examination of past records, individual and corporate contracts, and knowledge of community.
•
Plans and coordinates annual campaigns to reach individual contributors.
•
Plans, coordinates, and supports Special Events fundraising.
•
Assigns responsibilities for personal solicitation to members of staff, volunteer organizations, and governing body according to special interests or capabilities.
•
Develops donor recognition program.
•
Informs potential contributors of special needs of agency, and encourages individuals, corporations, and foundations to establish or contribute to special funds through endowments, trusts, donations of gifts-in-kind, or bequests, conferring with attorneys to establish methods of transferring funds to benefit both donors and agency.
•
Researches public and private grant agencies and foundations to identify potential sources of funding for research, community service, or other projects.
•
Supervises and coordinates activities of workers engaged in maintaining records of contributors and grants and preparing letters of appreciation to be sent to contributors.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Directly supervises two employees in the Development & Marketing Department, and one part-time contractor. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Education and/or Experience
Bachelor's Degree (B. A.) or equivalent from four-year college or university; or two to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Skills
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to write reports, speeches, and business correspondence.
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of top management, public groups, and Board of Directors.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent, and to create and interpret bar graphs.
Computer Skills
Knowledge of donor database software, Excel spreadsheets, and word processing software.
