FAMILY & CHILDREN SERVICES ANNOUNCES TWO HIGH-LEVEL APPOINTMENTS
- Barbara Pugliese Named Chief Operating Officer -
- Francesca Eastman Joins Board of Directors -

[Palo Alto, CA] Family & Children Services, the San Mateo and Santa Clara county-serving $5M health and human services agency, announced two key additions to its leadership. Barbara Pugliese joins the agency as Chief Operating Officer. Francesca Eastman, a foundation executive and education advocate, has been elected to the agency’s Board of Directors.

Barbara Pugliese has served on the agency’s Board of Directors since 2001. She has served as Chair of the Board and Treasurer and as a member of the finance committee. Prior to her appointment as COO/CFO, Barbara served as Chief Financial and Administration Officer at Kehillah Jewish High School, an independent college preparatory school located in Palo Alto. Barbara earned her master of science in management at the Sloan School of Management at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (M.I.T.).

As Chief Operating Officer, Barbara will oversee the agency’s Finance, Human Resources, Information Technology, and Facilities operations. She will also work closely with the Strategic Planning Committee of the Board of Directors.

“Family & Children Services provides programs and services of outstanding quality to families and individuals in our community. These services not only strengthen the individuals and families who are our clients, they strengthen our community as a whole. I am thrilled to join this organization and its team of quality professionals,” said Barbara Pugliese.

Francesca Eastman brings to the agency a wealth of experience in nonprofit governance, development, and engagement. Francesca currently serves as a trustee of the David B. and Edward C. Goodstein Foundation and Art in Action, and as a director of the San Mateo Community Colleges Foundation and Peninsula Volunteers. Francesca has a background in the arts, student services, and education. Francesca is a resident of Atherton.

“Family & Children Services has a nearly 60-year history of commitment to the well-being of Peninsula families. It is, to my view, a remarkable non-profit human service organization offering an array of educational and therapeutic programs to low-income, high need individuals. I admire the Agency’s strong support of our Latino community, and value, as a former educator, its focus upon the family health and personal growth which ensures success in school, and so, throughout life,” said Francesca Eastman.

“We are excited to have Francesca and Barbara as part of our agency leadership. They both bring a deep knowledge and understanding of nonprofit operations and community issues that will enrich our strategic planning and organizational strength,” said Jim Welsh, President & CEO.

Family & Children Services has served San Mateo and Santa Clara counties for nearly sixty years. The agency works to achieve its mission to build strong, safe, and self-sufficient individuals, families, and communities through a diverse array of innovative programs and services. Approximately  8,000 children, teens, and adults participate in its counseling, family support, substance abuse treatment, and violence intervention, prevention, and treatment programs each year.
