Former 49ers Great Roger Craig to Play in Los Altos Tournament Benefiting Family & Children Services
- Registration Is Open for the May 17th Event -
[Palo Alto, CA] Registration is now open for the inaugural Family & Children Services Charity Golf Classic sponsored by CTS and The Sereno Group. Planned for May 17th, 2010, at the Los Altos Golf & Country Club, the tournament’s celebrity guest players will include former 49ers great Roger Craig and friends. Proceeds from the benefit event will support Family & Children Services’ comprehensive network of affordable mental health counseling, life skills training, and support services
for children, youth, and adults in Silicon Valley.
Family & Children Services Charity Golf Classic will feature play on an 18 hole, par 71 private course; the chance to win valuable prizes, including a Tesla Roadster; and celebrity sports figures, including Roger Craig and Harris Barton. Players will be invited to attend an 11 a.m. complimentary golf conditioning workshop presented by professional personal trainers from FIT in Los Altos. Play will begin with a shot gun scramble start at 12:30 following a celebrity tee-off. Lunch will be provided by First & Main Sports Lounge of Los Altos. Players of all levels are welcome.
Co-chaired by Praveen Mandal, founder and president of Coulomb Technologies, and Jim Welsh, president and CEO of Family & Children Services, this will be the 61-year-old nonprofit agency’s first golf tournament.
Funds raised through the event will benefit Family & Children Services’ array of services for children, youth, and adults in Silicon Valley. Family & Children Services serves over 7,000 clients each year with confidential, culturally appropriate counseling at over 130 locations. The nonprofit organization helps children and adults cope effectively with depression, addiction, and chronic mental or physical illness; aids families in overcoming domestic violence; teaches individuals and families to become self-sufficient and build safe, healthy relationships; counsels our community’s veterans; supports youth who identify as gay, lesbian, bisexual, or transgender; and guides young people aged 16-21 as they emerge from the foster care system into independence.
Additional local underwriters of the event include CV Partners, FIT, and OutForce. Select hole sponsorships are available.
Golf registrations, as well as ticket purchases for the evening’s dinner and entertainment, are being accepted by mail or online.
