Atherton Resident Christine Curry to Receive Prestigious Award for Work with Family & Children Services

SAN JOSE, CA – The Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) Silicon Valley Chapter and Family & Children Services announce that Atherton resident Christine Curry will be one of twenty-seven recipients of the chapter’s Distinguished Volunteer Fundraiser Award for her philanthropic efforts. The prestigious award is given to Christine Curry in recognition for her outstanding leadership in furthering the mission of the nonprofit health and human services agency Family & Children Services.

Christine Curry currently serves as Chair of the Board of Directors of Family & Children Services. Christine and her husband, Michael, have been donors to the agency since 1999. As Christine’s interest in and passion for the agency’s work to build strong, safe, and self-sufficient individuals, families, and communities deepened, so did her involvement. Christine was invited to join the Board of Directors in 2003, and quickly assumed a leadership role in marketing and fundraising. Applying her advertising expertise, Christine developed new programs for donor cultivation. Christine has served as Board liaison to and active member of the Circle of Support Committee, which hosts an annual spring fundraising breakfast benefiting Family & Children Services.

“Family & Children Services is overjoyed to see Christine honored for contributions to the community through her philanthropic support of our work,” says Lani Dorff, Director of Development & Marketing. “Christine has worked tirelessly to increase the agency’s financial strength, and is always available to assist agency volunteers and advisors in their projects to benefit the agency. We are fortunate to have such a generous and talented member of our community on our Board.”

Christine will be honored with a select group of philanthropists at the 19th Annual Philanthropy Day Awards Celebration Luncheon on Friday, November 17, 2006 at the Fairmont Hotel in San Jose.

Tickets for the luncheon are $70 per person or $700 for a table of ten. For reservations contact the chapter office at (408) 744-0412.
