Increase in Support Services for Peninsula Fathers

Did you know that Family & Children Services has offered family violence and abuse prevention services for more than 16 years?

In 2008, our Positive Solutions program has expanded its community outreach and education efforts to increase support for fathers in Palo Alto, East Palo Alto, and Menlo Park. This expansion has been possible through the support of the Fatherhood Collaborative of San Mateo County and the Rotary Club of Palo Alto. Both organizations provided grants to support these preventative services.

The Palo Alto Nurturing Fathers group currently meets on Thursday evenings at Family & Children Services' Palo Alto office. Participation in the group is free. Men with children of all ages in their lives come to learn together how to improve familial communication, understand child development, help children make healthy choices, and build children's self-esteem.

The East Palo Alto group meets in East Palo Alto and is a Spanish-language group. The group is addressing topics similar to those of the Palo Alto group.

We are grateful to the Fatherhood Collaborative of San Mateo County and the Rotary Club of Palo Alto for supporting these efforts!
