Ways to Give

Help us bring our services into the community! Your support is vital. By contributing to Family & Children Services, you enable us to serve more members of our community in need. We view our donors as partners and believe it is our responsibility to ensure gifts entrusted to us are put to the best use for our clients.

Donations are tax-deductible and support our work year-round.

For an idea of what kind of impact your donation can have on our community, please visit our donations at work page. You may also consult our wish list to view a current list of agency and client needs. We so value our donors for making it possible for us to serve our clients. In-Kind and Wish List Donations
Family & Children Services welcomes in-kind gifts such as office furniture and equipment, supplies, and gift cards for low-income clients. Please check out our wish list for an up-to-date list of agency and client needs as well as donation instructions.

Endowment Fund
Gifts to the Family & Children Services Endowment Fund help to ensure the long-term sustainability of the agency's programs and services. Our Endowment Policy is posted online for your review. View our initiatives.

Events
Family & Children Services is the beneficiary of special community events, including the Circle of Support Breakfast and, new for 2010, the Family & Children Services Charity Golf Classic. Please visit our events page to view event details and ways to participate, such as underwriting, ticket purchases, and volunteer opportunities. The agency is also privileged to be a beneficiary of Valle Monte League's Christmas Tree Elegance event. We post information about store and restaurant grand openings and community events of which Family & Children Services is a beneficiary, as these opportunities arise.

Holiday Giving Programs
During the winter holiday season, Family & Children Services welcomes companies, individuals, and families to help make our clients' wishes come true. Please visit our Making Holidays Bright page to learn about our giving program.

Life Insurance
You may make a gift to Family & Children Services through a life insurance policy, or a portion of a life insurance policy.

Matching Gift Program
Many companies offer a matching gift program, in which the company will match a dollar amount donated by an employee. Please check with your human resources or marketing department to find out how your gift can have an even greater impact.

Memorial and Tribute Gifts
Monetary donations may be designated as a memorial for a loved one or as a tribute to a family member, friend, or colleague. All memorial and tribute gifts are listed in our annual report for the fiscal year in which they were designated. These gifts may be made online through our online donation service, Network for Good, or by completing the donation form, including the memorial/tribute section. We would be delighted to send a card to the family or individual informing them of the gift, so if you would like a card to be sent, please simply provide the necessary address information.

Partnerships with Local Stores
Family & Children Services is a Community Partner of Kepler's Books & Magazines in Menlo Park. When you shop at Kepler's, mention the agency at the register, and a percentage of your purchase will be donated to support our work! It's simple and adds up, so please remember every time you shop - including when you shop online! For Kepler's news and location information, please visit its web site: (www.keplers.com) or phone 650-324-4321. Thank you!

Real Estate
Family & Children Services also welcomes gifts of real estate. A gift of real estate will enable you to avoid capital gains tax on your profit, and you gain a tax deduction for the full market value of the property.

Stock
Family & Children Services welcomes donations of stocks, bonds, and other securities. When you make a gift of appreciated securities, you are usually able to not only qualify for an income tax deduction, but also avoid long-term capital gains tax.

United Way, Combined Federal, and Workplace Campaign Designations
Donors may designate Family & Children Services to receive a donation through their workplace giving campaigns, including the United Way Silicon Valley and Combined Federal Campaigns. For the United Way Campaign, simply fill in our name, address, and ID (#335400) when you complete the donation form.

We are also available to visit Silicon Valley workplaces for health fairs, kick-off events, and presentations.

Will Bequest
We are honored to be remembered in wills and estate plans and to be part of individuals? legacies. Please consult your lawyer when drawing up your will. He or she will be able to answer your questions and review your options. Designating a nonprofit to receive a designated sum or a predetermined percentage of an estate can significantly reduce estate taxes.
