Year-round local companies allow us to do more to help our clients by contributing dollars, goods, and services to our benefit our programs. In doing so, they help us create special opportunities that bring twinkles to young eyes.
A few examples:
- Families with young children who are Deaf or Hard-of-Hearing enjoyed a special day at the Monterey Bay Aquarium through the generous donation of admission fees from the Aquarium's Education Department. By visiting as a group, kids were able to share their excitement with new friends who communicate through sign language, and parents were able to build their connections with other local families.
- A grant from the Cisco Foundation is expanding health education activities and resources for youth emerging from foster care in Santa Clara County. Through this funding, we have taken youth ice skating, held Zumba classes, and tried to introduce youth to fun and inexpensive ways to stay healthy. Monthly healthy cooking classes draw in youth, while we reach out with tips via texting, social networking, and mailings.
- Kepler's Books & Magazines helps to raise funds for our programs throughout the year through the Community Partners Program. These donations particularly support our counseling services, helping us be there for children and youth who are coping with stress and trauma. more
- The Union Bank Foundation is a long-standing supporter of our efforts to prepare youth emerging from the foster care system to be self-sufficient and financially savvy.
