Volunteer

We invite you to get involved with us and make a difference in our community by joining our team of volunteers!

At Family & Children Services, volunteers are essential to fulfilling our mission of building strong, safe, and self-sufficient individuals, families, and communities. Family & Children Services has volunteer opportunities for a variety of skills and interests, including program and administrative support and special events. Please note that for client confidentiality reasons and due to the sensitive nature of treatment we do not offer opportunities working directly with children.

If you would like to learn about any of the opportunities listed below or discuss other ideas you have, please call Jodi Corwin, community engagement manager, at 650-326-6576, or complete the Contact Us form.

Highlighted Opportunities

Annual Community Support Campaigners
Each year, volunteers working with Family & Children Services help to raise funds as part of our Annual Community Support Campaign. Volunteers help to assemble mailings, host teas and house parties, and support the success of the campaign.

Committee Members
The Board of Directors welcomes community members interested in applying for places on its committees. As committee members, volunteers share their expertise, work with other dedicated volunteers, and expand their experience. Board committees include the Development & Marketing committee, Finance, Programs & Services, Board Development, and Audit.

Community Ambassador Program
You can help spread the word about Family & Children Services by joining our Community Ambassador program. We are looking for volunteers to represent the agency at various community events, to help distribute materials, and to identify speaking opportunities for our Speakers Bureau. Training is provided!

Community Awareness & Donor Cultivation Events
Volunteers are needed to host community awareness and donor cultivation events in their homes or in the community. These events are held in order to inform new audiences about the programs offered by Family & Children Services, as well as about its impact on the community.

Greening Project
Family & Children Services seeks help to become more "green" in our operations and practices. If this is your interest or passion, please let us know. We are interested in individuals to research best practices, help to evaluate our current practices, and assist our planning.

Musicians & Entertainers
We have occasional needs for entertainment for donor events and client celebrations. We would love to add you to our internal resource list to contact when these opportunities arise.

Special Events Committees
If you enjoy planning fundraisers, are artistically inclined, or simply work well with others, you could greatly help Family & Children Services by volunteering to help with event planning. Examples of event opportunities include joining the Circle of Support Breakfast Committee or the Family & Children Services Charity Golf Classic Committee.

Writers and Photographers
Volunteers are needed for various agency marketing and public relations projects. If you can handle a camera or write compelling informational materials, you can greatly help Family & Children Services explain to the community what it does and why the work is important.

Contact us to discuss your ideas and interests!
