SERVICES

Counseling and Support Groups for Children and Teens who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing
Counseling groups for teens are provided on school campuses and help members learn to cope with depression, peer pressure, and isolation and work to improve social skills, performance in school, and interpersonal relationships. The groups also focus on ending inappropriate touching and victimization, and building refusal skills.

Domestic Violence Offender Groups for Men who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing
Certified by Santa Clara and San Mateo counties, this 52-week program teaches members about power and control, non-violent behavior, healthy communication, and role definition. These classes are offered in ASL.

Education and Support for Parents
Additional help, resources, and advice is available to parents of children who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing. Members work on managing anger, stress management, and developing communication skills to decrease frustration, which may prevent physical abuse and neglect of children who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing and their siblings. In-home services are also provided.

Through a grant from First 5 Santa Clara County, we are also providing outreach and support for parents of children aged birth to 5 who are diagnosed as being Deaf or Hard of Hearing. Parents receive home visits, resource and referral, and on-site counseling.

2007 Family Day
