Family Violence Prevention and Intervention
Groups for Anger Management, Child Abuse and Domestic Violence

Through Positive Solutions, adults learn to build healthy relationships with their partners, children, and families.

Anger Management and Accountability Groups
Anger is an emotion; it is not good or bad. What matters is how we use it. Participants  in this group learn to express anger in appropriate ways and positive ways to interest with others in a supportive environment.
Domestic Violence Offender Groups (also known as Batterer's Intervention)
Certified by Santa Clara and San Mateo counties, this 52-week program teaches members about power and control, non-violent behavior, healthy communication, and role definition. Groups are offered separately for men and for women. Participants may join throughout the year. Hombres de Honor is a Spanish-language support group for men who have completed the program.

Outreach & Groups for Fathers
Through the support of the Fatherhood Collaborative of San Mateo County and the Rotary Club of Palo Alto, Family & Children Services is offering targeted outreach to fathers in East Palo Alto, Menlo Park, and Palo Alto.

For information on the East Palo Alto group, which begins April 24 from 6:30-8:30pm and will be conducted in Spanish, please contact Gerardo at 650-543-5423. For the English-language Palo Alto group, please contact Ken at 650-543-5505. Both groups are free.

Parenting Education & Child Abuse Treatment
We offer a 16-week Parenting without Violence program, and a 52-week Child Abuse Treatment program. The 52-week program is certified by Santa Clara and San Mateo counties to meet court-mandated requirements. Participants meet in groups and learn about anger management, positive discipline, nonviolent communication, child development, and stress management.

We are also available to teach workshops for parents on positive discipline, family communication, and anger management. Especially for fathers, we also offer the 16-week Fathering program.

Violence Prevention
Services are available at schools, churches, and various locations in San Mateo and Santa Clara counties.

Languages:
Groups are offered in English, Spanish, Vietnamese, and American Sign Language. Groups form to meet client need.

Locations and Fees:
Groups meet in our San Jose and Palo Alto offices. The Spanish-language Domestic Violence group for men is also meeting in East Palo Alto; more groups can be added based on need.

By arrangement, groups are added that meet in community-based locations. Community presentations can also be requested.
